name- slatepelt
Clan- wind
Age- 3
Sex- male
Breed- borzoi/ irishwolfhound/ other sighthound

personality

Summed up-
a quiet, observant hound who stands by his word, has a bad habit of overworking and a soft spot for smaller, weaker dogs. His purpose in life is to provide the best for everyone around him. He never wavers and holds a regal, stern aura. Though his appearance can be unsettling, he dosent mean any harm.

Details

Quiet/ observant/ stoic- slatepelt is a quiet male with a bad habit of stalking. He seems to loom in the shadows of camp, watching from the distance. He's always had a critical eye and well exercised mind, putting in quite a bit of effort to remember his clanmates names and behavior. He was likely watching as you went through hard times, much too removed to step in. He holds guilt for his emotional absence, but he's far too used to scaring rather than comforting. Upon being noticed, he quickly leaves, afraid of making a situation worse for a dog. If you do get a chance to speak to him before he stalks off, he likely won't speak too much.

Calm/stern/volatile- slatepelt has a certain calmness to him, though it's something that washes over a dog after his initial intimidation. He has a surprisingly high tolerance for foolishness. He is a living jungle Jim for pups and a willing one at that. Though he likely won't crack a smile, he's aura is very readable, and more often than not he is simply happy to be around. His calmness extends to nearly any situation...though he sits as a loaded gun. The second he notices someone wronging another, or wronging the clan, he acts, his first warnings of annoyance being easy to miss given his unchanging tone. When he snaps its usually quick and to the point, making sure his victim won't soon forget their place.

Logical/ Emotionally Detached/learning- slatepelt knows he's not quite normal...he lacks a full understanding of others emotions, and though he fights to ease the hurt of others, he still finds it difficult to understand these emotions, and why dogs do what they do. He knows how to avoid these negative emotions, but doesn't quite grasp why they care so much. He treats the dogs around him like pups, trying to do what he can to avoid conflict and heartache. Slate still has many questions though, like Why does one stay with a single mate when that's not useful in growing the clan? Why do the dogs around him shed tears so often? Why do pups fear the thunder which can not reach them? He struggles to relate...but he tries to understand and needs his clan to help him learn.

Hystory-

Pup hood- slatepelt was a single, unplanned pup. His mother was sickly, producing a thin, deer legged pup. With an underdeveloped immune system he was trapped in the den, sheltered from the outside and starved of critical socialization. Though his mother was kind, once he was weened she rarely visited, being a strong and productive member of the clan. At the very least she visited him and provided some level of love, unlike his shaggy haired, stone hearted father. He visited perhaps with good intentions, trying to catch his son up with the play he missed from the other clans pups, but this play quickly turned to early attempts at training. His trips and stumbles were suddenly seen as failure and his quick tempered father was known to lash out, no one would've expected him to snap so hard at a pup, much less his own pup. The bullying of his son became a common past time, gone unnoticed by a chipper mother who refused to acknowledge the faults in her 'perfect' family. In her eyes her family held a strong mate and father, a gentle, well behaved pup, and her, the light of the family.

Apprenticeship- slatepelt was promoted to apprentice slightly later than other pups, his unpredictable health holding him back until he seemed fit enough to be officially trained. He found awkwardness in trying to talk with other clan mates his age, his ragged, often beat up appearance and nearly vacant stare unsettling most. His flimsy attempts at making small talk were shameless copies of conversations he'd overheard, further bothering his fellow apprentices. He learned more through watching than through acting, his need to fit in causing him to develop a bad habit of stalking and shadowing the ones he admired. For the most part he was a quiet dog with little interest in sparring, though his odd habits and gentle nature soon attracted a new, and all too familiar attention. When faced with bulling he figured it was best to simply tough it out. Words never fazed him, and his skin nearly felt hardened after so many bumps and cuts, but there was a single moment that changed his thinking. A pretty lass he'd fancied for quite sometime finally spoke to him. She didn't want small talk, nor did she was to take a jab at him. Her words came only as a single question; 'why do you let them do that to you when you know you can stop them?'. Slate had never considered the thought. He knew he was larger than his clan mates but never considered fighting back...the thought boiled and brewed in his mind, day by day he questioned his own tolerance more and more. Again, the lass he adored showed herself again, this time prompting action, as if she could see the uncertainty in him. She visited him more and more, each time she filled his mind with more intolerance and more anger. Finally he snapped. Nearly full grown, slate suddenly posed a threat to his long time bullies. Once slate finally snapped back he felt free, but at the same time, there was an almost guilt he felt for barring his teeth at another dog...it was a surprisingly different story when it came to his father. The tensions between them had grown and grown, and when the inevitable fight finally broke it was thunderous. His father was slightly smaller than him and now much older, but before finally submitting he left his son with a large tear in his lip, a result of a large k-9 being dragged down across his eye and hooking into his maw.

Adulthood- as slatepelt got older he isolated himself, content with working in the background to support his clan. He knows his clan mates stories and keeps tabs on them, a constant worry for the safety of the smaller or more innocent clan dogs. His silence only ever seems broken when he intervenes in disagreements, his voice only seeMing to be that of reason. He has opinions but has never voiced them, his role as warrior being that of a provider, not a leader. That fact has bothered him, but he makes due with it.

Thoughts on his leaders death and idk somthing I decided to leave in-
he felt he never really had a place, working in the background to provide the clanwith support, his ever watching eyes noticed the pain and burden tawnystar and the rest of the clan held, but he didn't think to act. He now wishes he'd done more to help her...but grieving can only last so long...he'll watch the tears fall, then return to his work, content with serving the next beta and his new leader.

Physical description and some stuff- slatepelt is a 36 in (91 cm)  tall, a result of his crosses. His family seemed strictly made up of ragged sighthound mixes, with him being the least shaggy of them all. He takes after his borzoi side more, having silky, wavy fur, but holding a sturdy, lean type of strength to him. His body is coated in thin scars, a result of his upbringing, though the scars are most visible on areas with thinner fur, such as his legs and sides. The fur surrounding his neck is nearly a mane, with thick curls protecting his neck from bites. His exposed teeth are somewhat of a health concern for himself and anyone he bites, collecting bacteria unless he cleans them with a mixture of herbs and water. Slatepelt stands with his head held high, coming off as assertive and confident.
